time out for mom

Once in awhile when Evan does something "bad" or is just throwing a tantrum over something minor... we give him a time out.  This only happens once every few weeks.  And actually now he usually don't even need to have a time out, just threaten that he will get one if his behavior doesn't stop.

So now... Evan thought of this brillant idea of putting mom in a time out if I'm doing something he doesn't like.  The first time was a week ago when Evan and I arrived back from celebrating an early Christmas in Muskegon.  I was busy unpacking our stuff, including the new presents.  We had just purchased a new cabinet and Evan thought it would be fun to just unpack a box of things into the cabinet.  An hour or so later when he became distracted with something else, I went to the cabinet and moved all the stuff he had put in there.  Ohhh.... not a good choice for me.  Evan grabbed my hand and brought me to a different room and said "Mom take a time out."  Then he walked away for a 15 seconds or so.  When he came he said, "Why you take a time out because,  I didn't want you to move that stuff.  That was not nice."  Besides just cracking up that my 2-year old put me in a time out, I thought it was hilarous that he used his serious face and tone, and acted out the time out in the same way that we do.

Another funny part of this event was that today I was trying to remember why Evan put me in a time out (neither Tony or I could remember).  But, Evan remembered, and filled me again that I had time out because he didn't want me to that stuff.

sneaky froggie

while getting ready to go Meijer yesterday evening

Evan: "Froggie wants to come to Meijer with us"
Me:  "Sure, but he can only ride in the car, he can't go inside the store"    (we're a little scared
of losing the good frog so limit his trips outside the house)

when we arrive at the store I go to unbuckle Evan and he has both his hands on the edge of hat making sure the hat is staying on tightly

Me:  "Why are you holding your hat?"
Evan:  "So Froggie can come inside Meijer"

he had put Froggie inside his hat and then put his hat on his head... he was just trying to help his good pal sneak inside the store... I thought it was so cute, so... Froggie got to come in!
